"The price of petrol and Cheese definetly makes you think twice about jumping in the car and driving 100 km to go for a paddle not to mention the 900km to Fiordland!! OUCH. it was slightly cheaper back then though.
Well there is a bright side to all this, as there has been some more investigations into some local creeks around here and one 5 hour hike has found something of note (Needs Rain though) plus there is two other potentials. One called falls creek about half way to Karamea not far from the Mokihinui which runs out to the sea. I will keep you posted on it with pick of course if we run it.
One is me standing in Morgans Gorge contenplating paddling the last part of it which was just to mentally challenging at that point in the day for me as had been on the river for 5 hours already!
the other is a 6 meterside waterfall on a side-creek on the Totara which you have walk about 150 meters up to see it.
